Clock Tower or "Jam Gadang" is located at the centre of town, and was built in 1926 by Rook Maker the secretary of Bukittinggi Mayor.
It was designed and constructed by Minang people Yazid and Sutan Gigi Ameh. Laying of cornerstone done by Rook Maker's son, six years old.
